How to correctly fit your dog’s harness
Fitting your dog with a harness is a small but essential part of being a responsible pet owner. With these easy steps, you can ensure your furry friend is comfortable, secure, and happy during your walks together.
If you're a dog owner, one of the most important things you can do for your furry friend is to properly fit them with a harness. Not only will it make your walks together more enjoyable, but it will also provide them with a higher level of comfort and safety.
Here are some simple steps you can follow to ensure you're fitting your dog with a harness correctly:
Step 1: Get your dog into a standing or sitting position. Make sure they are calm and relaxed before proceeding. It can get a little crazy if they love moving their head around!
Step 2: Slip the harness over your dog's head, positioning it so that the D-ring is on their back for leash attachment. Some harnesses have an additional D-ring at the front of the chest for no-pull training (lead from the front).
Step 3: Guide your dog's front legs through the leg holes, making sure they are in equal positions on either side of the chest piece. Extend the chest strap if required for buckle closure.
Step 4: Buckle the harness on the opposite side, extending or tightening the strap to ensure a secure fit. Check that you can comfortably fit 2-3 fingers between the chest strap and the back of your dog's front legs.
It's important to note that each dog's measurements may vary, so be sure to consult the size guide for specific measurements before purchasing.
